I decided to add cherries to my pendant collection to bring in the color red, but of course you can't have a depiction of a cherry without its stem. And yes, two cherries connected by two stems. Each cherry is formed with layered, colored glass. The light inside reveals swirls of the color and has a bit of depth when lit. Unlit, the deep red glass looks closest to the black cherry varieties. The bronze stems are thin and gently curved.
Each pendant has a rechargeable battery that sits in a magnetic clasp worn behind the neck. The black nylon lanyard is soft, pliable, and hangs comfortably and securely. A twist of the clasp turns the light on and off, and the battery can be easily removed and recharged with an included USB charger. The cherries will glow continuously for ~60 hours per charge for a single, ~35 hours for a double, and slowly fades as the battery runs down.
The pendants are a single size that can be adjusted by adding or removing small knots in the cord next to the clasp. They ship as a 'medium' with a single knot on each side that can be removed to lengthen, or additional knots added to shorten.
Each cherry is handmade by layering translucent and red colors on a bubble of glass, and forming a dimple for the led cavity. Red borosilicate is a 'striking' color, which means the color forms from crystals that grow in the heat of the torch and kiln. The degree of heating determines the density and opacity of color, imparting each individual cherry with its own unique pattern and quality of light.
